Clouds drifted on the strong winds, heavy with frozen water droplets. The wind whipped my hair around my face, stinging as it hit my soft skin. Lightning brightened the sky, belching out a thunderous roar. I sighed and looked to the horizon, a straight line of pale blue, clawing at the clouds begging to break free of its hold. I looked to the opposite direction into the heart of the ragging storm; rain fell together to the warm earth, gathering in pools of murky water. I could see the rain push forward toward me, wanting to swallow me whole and drown me in their wake. I held my hand out, palm up, as the first few drops of rain attacked my skin. The rain raised goosebumps as it slithered down my arm. I looked up and closed my eyes as rain fell onto my face, sliding down my neck, disappearing behind my shirt.
